Urea 46-0-0 is the most concentrated solid nitrogenous fertilizer commercially available, containing 46% Nitrogen “N” in the amide “CO(NH2)2” form.   Upon soil application, urea undergoes rapid enzymatic hydrolysis by soil urease to form ammonium carbonate. This subsequently converts to plant-available ammonium “NH4+” and then to nitrate “NO3-” via nitrification.
